Trail Descriptions North Star Nature Preserve Loop Situated 1.5 miles east of Aspen just off Highway 82, the 175 -acre North Star Nature Preserve lies in a large open area intersected by the Roaring Fork River. The loop is relatively flat and scenic. Difficulty: Easy. Flat and pleasant. Length: A little over 1.5 miles. Benedict Trail This short section of tracked trail serves as a connection from the east end of Aspen, at the end of Ute Ave., to the North Star Nature Preserve Loop. The portion of the route that passes close to the base of Aspen Mountain is subject to some avalanche danger as indicated on the signs, especially after new snowfalls. Stay on the trail, as it is on private property. Difficulty: Moderate. The trail is somewhat narrow in spots with some ups and downs around curves. Length: 1.5 miles from the Aspen Club to the North Star Nature Preserve. |
